Black Friday
As Thanksgiving ended everyone awaited not the time spent together on that actual day but rather the day after, the day in which everyone spends so much money, Black Friday. As the years pass by the amount of revenue earned by all of the retail stores that promote discounted prices on the actual day has been increasing. This year I decided to go to the mall on Black Friday just to see how people acted towards the sales. What I noticed was that most prices remained the same and there were hardly any deals. Customers were not as desperate to attack each other as they were at Wal-Mart, the next place I decided to go observe people. These so-called deals are only incentives that people fall for as they race to the stores to buy Christmas gifts. I guess its all a seasonal thing, but as mentioned in the video we watched in class, while people spend on so many useless things, there are many more things going on in the rest of the world that need to discussed and that as a nation we must also address with the same fury. For the next couple of years I will continue observing people and while I do so I will also try to convince them that the sales are really not all that great, and they only serve to motivate people to spend all their money. For now, all I can do is continue telling my family about these issues.
